Đội đặc nhiệm (S.W.A.T) là những chiến sĩ chuyên làm nhiệm vụ chống khủng bố, giải cứu con tin, ngăn chặn các phần tử nguy hiểm. Dựa trên những câu chuyện có thật xảy ra tại một đơn vị cảnh sát ở Los Angeles và ở các thành phố khác trên nước Mỹ, bộ phim đã đề cao lòng dũng cảm, nhiệt huyết và tinh thần trách nhiệm của những chiến sĩ tham gia trong S.W.A.T. Mỗi tập phim là một chiến công của S.W.A.T dưới sự lãnh đạo tài ba của đội trưởng 'Hondo' Harrelson.
Không chỉ kể lại những chiến công, bộ phim còn tái hiện cuộc sống bình thường của những chiến sĩ S.W.A.T can đảm. Họ cũng biết vui, biết buồn, biết lo lắng, biết hờn ghen, biết yêu....Bộ phim đã từng có phiên bản điện ảnh sản xuất năm 2003 do Collin Farrel và Samuel L Jackson thủ vai chính.
Series được sản xuất tại Mỹ, kéo dài hai năm 1975-1976, qua 2 seasons với 39 episodes nhưng chẳng hiều sao qua Vn chỉ còn lại 35 episodes =.="
